Educational Resources
Descriptions, Web sites, and contact information are provided below for nine projects or organizations that provide secondary transition resources to special education teachers, juvenile justice programs, and regional transition representatives. Contact information is also provided for the program liaison at the Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services in the Florida Department of Education.
Curriculum Improvement Project
The Curriculum Improvement Project develops Parallel Alternative Strategies for Students (PASS) volumes, which are unique, supplemental materials written to help middle and high school students with various learning needs achieve success in the classroom. The student volumes are presented in an easy-to-understand format for students seeking a standard diploma.

FDLRS Technology Coordinating Unit (FDLRS/TECH)
The FDLRS Technology Coordinating Unit (FDLRS/TECH) provides FDLRS network technology resources through statewide coordination and delivery of information; support, coordination, and training services; identifying current technologies; and through the support of technology labs at major conferences.

Florida Instructional Materials Center for the Visually Impaired (FIMC-VI)
FIMC-VI is a statewide resource center designed to assist schools in obtaining specialized materials for students with visual impairments as well as providing professional development to teachers and other professionals who provide services to students who are visually impaired. In addition to housing a professional resource library, they are also the state’s Authorized User for the National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS).

Juvenile Justice Educational Enhancement Program (JJEEP)
JJEEP provides Quality Assurance (QA) reviews and technical assistance to nearly 200 Florida juvenile justice education programs. It is funded by the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) and executed by the Florida State University Center for Criminology and Public Policy Research.

Positive Behavior Support (PBS)
PBS provides a positive and effective alternative to the traditional methods of discipline. PBS methods are research-based and proven to significantly reduce the occurrence of problem behaviors in the school, resulting in a more positive school climate and increased academic performance.

Project 10: Transition Education Network

Resource Materials and Technology Center for the Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing (RMTC-D/HH)
The Resource Materials & Technology Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is a specialized FDLRS center serving teachers of students who are deaf and hard of hearing throughout the state of Florida.

Student Support Services Project
Student Support Services staff are charged with facilitating the development of critical support services programs so that observable and measurable indicators of success are achieved. This is accomplished through the provision of technical assistance, training, research, resource development, and policy development and interpretation to local and state educators and parents.
